Before there were ways of numbing for teeth to be pulled???
Answer:
My grandma says back then they would have teeth removed with pliers. When there was pain, they would go to a guy in the neighborhood and he would remove teeth. And sometimes a guy was there just to keep ppl's mouth open. She said it didn't seem so bad back then because that's all anyone knew to do. She makes fun of us being afraid of dentists today because she didn't have the "good numbing stuff" we have today.
Lots and lots and lots and lots of WHISKEY!!
eww i dont even want to think about that.oww!
they most likely didn't have dentists back then either and their teeth rotted out
they just opened their mouth and let the barber go at the tooth with a pair of pliers. Maybe after a few shots of whiskey. How barbaric but it was this or go on suffering with a tooth ache. Aren't you glad you were born at a time where pain relief was available. When ether came on the scene you could breath in the ether vapors and be unconscious during the dental procedures.
There have always been herbs, medicines and chemicals that physicians used to treat patients for a variety of illnesses.
Alcohol and a pair of pliers was the time-honoured way of dealing with an extraction in western culture.I'm truly grateful for progress!
they drank whiskey
Teeth were just pulled and the person had to live the pain. Many times the patient would drink alcohol during or before having a tooth pulled. Novacaine (no longer in use now) was developed in the early 1900s and cocaine was also used in dentistry back then.

What medicine used to whitening t eeth?
My tooth getting yellowish. What are the best medicine to bring back my tooth white as before my child hood.
Answer:
colgate..its over the counter ;-D
Peroxide... do not do it yourself tho... Buy a kit like Crest whitestripes or see your dentist.
umm, I'm not sure exactly what you are asking...but peroxide is a major component in teeth whitening. Dilute in water (2 parts water, one part peroxide) It's made for the mouth but just make sure you don't swallow it! It is also very cheap compared to home whitening systems! But even if your teeth are tinged with yellow don't forget to keep on smiling because everyone loves a happy face :)
There are many ways of cleaning yellow teeth ranging from cheap whitener toothpastes to sessions with the dentist at about 100-150 dollars per visit.
Some teeth discolored by tetracyclin antibiotics.will not lose its mottled grey appearance so in that case, have them capped.
There are alot of whitening products out there and d many of them claim to be safe. However, even "gentle" products can wear away your enamel, which will eventually lead to problems worse than yellowing of the teeth. If you want to whiten your teeth, brush daily with toothpaste, followed by baking soda (non abrasive) and avoid food and drink that will stain your teeth. this will take longer, but will be safer in the long run.

What makes your tongue turn green after you have an extraction and take antibiotics?
Answer:
The green is probably from something you ate that turned the candidiasis infection on your tongue green. This fungal infection is traditionally white and can be removed leaving red swollen tissue underneath. You probably just drank coffee or something that stained the fungus. It will go away once you stop the antibiotics or you can go see your dds and he/she can prescribe an antifungal. good luck
It's actually a type of fungus growing on your tongue. Call your dentist right away.
My tongue didn't turn green and I had one pulled last Monday and was taking antibiotics also.
ok im not sure about green but when you take antibiotics sometimes it can cause a yeast infection in your mouth its called thrush it usually coats your tongue white and patches inside your mouth for that you go to the doctor and they will give you medication to swish around in your mouth daily, but again never heard of green
What makes adult teeth move?
what makes adult teeth move/seperate
Answer:
1.The removal of one tooth. That causes the others to shift.
2. Drug abuse. This causes the teeth to rot and fall out, causing the shift in other teeth.
3. Decay. The rotting of teeth are dangerous and has many side effects. Heart disease and poisoning are just a few.
There's really only one reason. Teeth will shift is there's room for them to do so. Why there is room for them to shift is another question.

what makes adult teeth move/seperate
Answer:
Gum disease. It can be responsible for your losing most if not all of your teeth.
Gum disease, loss of bone mass. see your dentist.
loose gums
If you have lost teeth or had any pulled and there are gaps in your mouth, the teeth will move to fill them in. That is why it is important to have lost teeth replaced with crowns or caps or bridges.

What major do you have to pick if you want to be a dentist?
I mean like what is the course that you need to take in college.
Answer:
Most Dental schools do not require that you complete an Undergrad. Major to be accepted. You must just complete the entrance course requirements. My husband studied Genetics but didn't finish his Undergraduate Major before being accepted to Dental school. Majors in the Sciences are your best bet if you plan to complete an Undergrad. Degree first as they also cover most of the Dental school requirements. It's "killing 2 birds with 1 stone", basically. Decide on some Dental schools that you are interested in and check online to see if they have a list of required courses posted. If not, write and ask for an admissions packet from them. It will list the requirements. Good luck!
I would assume biology would be the most useful
HELLO,
WHILE THERE ARE NO MAJORS REQUIRED FOR DENTISTRY A STRONG BIOLOGY BACKGROUND IS A SOUND PLACE TO START.
WHILE IN DENTAL SCHOOL THERE WILL BE MANY COURSES FOR WHICH A GOOD UNDERSTANDING OF SCIENCE IS NEEDED.
As a dentist, dental school have no requirements on majors, like mines is Computer Science, as long as you take Pre-Dental Courses

What kinds of retainers are there and what are the best ones?
Answer:
There are the retainers with the colorful acrylic areas and the metal wire that surrounds the teeth. These are good, have been around for a long time, and work. However, if your teeth move too much b/c you missed putting it in for a while they can quickly not fit anymore. There are permanent retainers ( a wire they cement on the backs of your teeth after braces to prevent the teeth from ever moving). However, these type often cause gum disease that can cause enough bone loss over time to cause people to loose their teeth in 10-20 years b/c people with this type of retainer usually are unable to floss. Finally, there are plastic like retainers that are similar to invisalign or mouthguards. These work also, but if your teeth move much you have to bite down hard to force these retainers back on which often causes clenching over time b/c you usually wear them at night and spend all night clenching your teeth together while not realizing your doing it.
Don't know about the best ones but some of the worse ones are those charged by Solicitors and the like to retain their services.
