What's an effective whitening toothpaste? if you stop using it, would your teeth go yellow again or worse?

Answer:
Most whitening toothpastes are about the same. I like the Crest Night Effects and they have a daytime one. They add an abrasive ingredient to help polish more of surface stains off. So if you drink a lot of things that are staining like coffee, tea, pop, etc. The whitening toothpaste helps keep those polished off with that little extra polishing agent. However, if you have sensitive teeth it can make that worse. If you stop using it you might have more of that coffee or tea stain the surface of your teeth.
I have yet to see a toothpaste that will actually whiten your teeth. At most, they may delay the yellowing of your teeth following a whitening procedure.
Anytime your teeth are whitened, through whatever procedure, they will eventually yellow again. It's due to the natural staining caused by food that you eat.
I recommend that you consult a dentist before you whiten your teeth by any method. He/she will let you know what the potential disadvantages might be. Generally, tooth whitening procedures weaken the enamel rods covering your teeth, which makes them more prone to decay.
The best way to make your teeth look white: if you're a girl, dark lipstick. If you're a guy, get a tan. :)
Hope that helps!

I must get asked this question atleast once a day! I also have yet to see of any toothpaste that whitens teeth. The toothpaste that claim to do that simply remove the day to day stains that we may get on our teeth from consuming products with dark color. However, whitening is not bad for your teeth at all. It is actually very beneficial. Whitening products that you can get from your dentist are the best!
