Whats an effective method to deal with wisdom tooth pain?

Answer:
If they are impacted then see a dentist and probably have them removed. However if they are coming in normal, and it's just the soreness from breaking through the skin. Try something like a novacaine gel, or Anbesol, plus maybe a nice cool teething ring :)
extraction
Take some motrin, warm salt water rinses and ask your DDS if they should come out.
Go see a dentist.
Get them pulled, then keep plenty of gauze around.
Exactly. Get an appointment and have it removed.
ibuprofen for the swelling and try ambesol or chewing on a clove(it has a numbing effect)
Get them pulled out
take a zip of tequila and hold it on your mouth on the side of the tooth for a while that calms the pain
Go to the dentist
Drink till you cant feel the pain... works for me every time...
the doctor should have prescribed you vicodin or a pain reliever. If you have pain call your doc
Ask your dentist for some pain killers. They make life a lot easier.
I would suggest seeing a dentist if that is not something possible right now. Try taking some pain meds. Tylenol something like that. Some times if you eat cold things it tends to numb the teeth so try that. My finance actually got his pulled today and is doing ok. It's not to bad. But it is something to consider. If they have come out already they may just need to pull them. If not they may have to do surgery. That isn't bad either.

Whats a good toothpaste for clearing tarter?

Answer:
No toothpaste can clean tartar off teeth. Tartar is calcified bacterial plaque and has a very hard, crusty consistency and is impossible to brush off. If you have tartar, you need to see a dentist or hygienist and have them scrape it off for you. What you can do is prevent tartar from building up. It takes 12 hours for the soft white sticky bacterial plaque to turn into crusty tartar, so if you brush and floss thoroughly before the 12 hours elapse, you should not get much tartar buildup.Hope this helps.
Try Eucryl toothpowder (you can get it in Boots). It's a slightly abrasive powder designed to remove stains from smokers teeth, and should only be used once a week or so.You just wet your toothbrush, press it into the powder and brush normally. It won't remove tartar as such (I think only dental instruments can do that), but it does remove lots of brown stains and generally makes your teeth look much much better. I recommend it.
try Sensodyne... for fresh breath....
Toothpaste cannot remove tartar. Only dental instruments can. If you try to use very abrasive toothpastes and hard bristled brushes you are only going to erode away your enamel and possibly irritate your gums. Best advice is to get a cleaning done by a professional 2-3 times a year, and then brush and floss everyday with regular flouride toothpaste and soft bristles brush. This will keep the tartar from forming in the first place. Hope this helps!

What's a good price for a root canal?

I have an abcess tooth, I beielve it's the #19 tooth. Second molar from the rear of my lower left jaw.I was wondering what a reasonable price for a root canal procedure would run me. I have no insurance. I started antibiotics yesterday and have to wait ten days before having the procedure done, so I have some time to seek out prices from different dentists. I need to know what to expect to have to pay to have a reputable doctor perfom the root canal.
Answer:
An "amalgam one-surf prim/perm" means a one-surface silver filling. It might be done to plug the access hole for the root canal tooth. In most cases, the tooth eventually needs a crown to stabilize it for long-term.Don't go by price alone. Different dentist have different quality, skill level, comfort level, guarentee their work, etc.Specialists will cost more than general dentists. If a general dentist is experienced with root canals, they will do a fine job for you, unless it is a complicated procedure."Dental shopping" is not always a good idea, because you don't really know what you are comparing unless you know the dentist. I'd ask friends, co-workers, others for a recommendation. It's about value, not price.
I had the root canal and am now saving up for the crown!! Ain't life grand? My root canal cost $800. I have insurance so I ONLY had to pay for half of it. Lucky me!!
Sorry about your abcess, ben there so many times. All I know is Florida. Wisconsin, NC and ORegon but in all of those states a root canal is expensive. I'm gonna tak a stab at about 800-1000 for the root canal and another 400-600 for the crown. You may want to seek out a dental college. Prices are considerably lower at one of these facilities but you may need to afford a motel room and travel. Good luck
Each Denist, area you live and your mouth situation is different. talk to a few Dentist in your area and get the pricing. You check out cars clothes,You must check out other Denists. Good Luck Or have it pulled out, like the Denists did before.

Whats a good mouthwash for everyday that wont stain your teeth, my son has been using Cordosol and has been?

told not to use it all the time as it stains your teeth.
Answer:
Act is a good one for kids. It's red but doesn't stain your teeth and doesn't leave a nasty after taste for hours like some do. Also it has a sort of pump in each bottle. You squeeze the bottle and a resevoir in the top of the bottle fills up. makes it quick and easy for kids to get the right amount with out a mess and with out waisting paper cups. And it isn't really harsh won't make your eyes water and it got a mild taste so kids won't refuse to take it ... :D
Colgate's new ones are pretty good and recommended by my dentist.
Listerine!
Anti bacterial too :)
my favorite is crest pro health it doesn't burn your mouth at all !
I like the Rembrandt because it gets your teeth semi white before you even brush. My teeth alwasy feel super clean afterwards.
it is the best mouthwash though there was another one can't remember the name ask the pharmacist it was at my local pharmacy that told me about it
The traditional mouthwashing solution is saline (salty) water. The solution need not be strong; enough salt to taste obvious without being unpleasant. Swallowing a bit of it won't be harmful, and can even be beneficial in warm weather. Generally, though, it should be spat out rather than swallowed.Saline is useful because it kills off a lot of the invasive microbes that cause gum disease, bad breath, etc without harming most of the beneficial ones that come in handy for fighting off infections.(most body tissues are slightly salty and mildly acidic, so most of the sympathetic or 'symbiotic' organisms that help us to survive are tolerant to salty %26 acidic conditions)Unfortunately, most commercially-available oral hygiene preparations are fairly strongly alkaline, because they are designed to neutralise the acids that dental-plaque bacteria produce when they digest sugars.Rinsing with salt water before brushing will improve the effectiveness of any other oral hygiene methods. This can also be done at other times of the day, such as before %26 after eating.
There is a mouthwash called Peroxyl by Colegate, it is about 拢3.99. It does not stain and isn't too strong, my daughter thinks it is the best one.The only thing is i do not know if a supermarket stocks it but if you ring Colegate they are based in Guildford if you ring 118 for the number, i am sure they will be able to tell you the nearest stockist. Hope this helps.
Corsodyl mouthwash is designed for patients who suffer with Gum Disease and it's recommended that once you finish the bottle you return to normal mouthwash!
Listerine is quite a popular brand and comes in various bottles for various dental ailments, such as Teeth/gum defence, Tartar Control, and your regular Listerine.

Whatis a good way to witen teeth other than wite strips of treatments?

Answer:
Brush them with baking soda as foldit45 said, or with a fresh straberry . You can use the baking soda in the morning and the straberry at night.
im not a dentist but cutting back on soda, coffee that can stan your teeth. if you smoke that also plays a big part..
brush them with baking soda.
To keep teeth bright and prevent yellowing, you need to remove the staining bacteria. This is exactly what happens when you chew certain foods that produce a high salivary flow. So, in addition to apples, take a bite out of guavas, pears, celery, carrots, sugar cane, cauliflower, and cucumbers. Another benefit: The fibre in some of these foods physically works to clean teeth and remove bacteria. Two more tips to keep teeth bright:1. Watch out for dark foods and beverages. Anything that can stain a white T-shirt can stain your teeth too. That means most varieties of berries, as well as soy sauce, red wine, many fruit juices, coffee, tea, and cola. You dont have to avoid them altogether, but immediately after indulging, rinse out your mouth with water, chew gum, or brush your teeth.2. Keep in mind that citrus fruits contain acid that can cause enamel to deteriorate over time.?

Whate are some signs of incoming wisdom teeth?

Answer:
Usually between ages 17-20's you will have two premolar on one side followed by two larger molars. The tissue behind the last 2nd molar will start to get slightly enlarged, you may start to bite this tissue when you eat. You will begin to feel some pressure back there that often feels as if it is pushing the teeth in front of it foward. The tissue may swell up and go down several times over a long period of time, especially if the wisdom teeth are impacted and in fact not going to erupt at all.
teeth will grow

What year of age do people lose there teeth?

Ive lost alot of teeth because i could not afford to see a dentist
And i cant stand my smile ,should i get the rest pulled and get dentures or try and save the ones i got?:(
Answer:
You can apply for HMO Blue, which is the Medicaid insurance coverage for people 20 yrs and older. (You neglected to mention your age, I'm going by your screen name.)I would suggest that you not pull your remaining teeth for a few reasons:1.) There is no denture or appliance (implant, bridge, etc.) that will be as strong or comfortable as your God-given teeth,
2.) It is way more expensive to try to replace teeth than to repair what you have, and
3.) There are dentists who will volunteer to do your work pro bono (yes, free) if you allow them to use your case as an example of their work or for a dental convention presentation. The age an individual loses his/her teeth depends on a number of factors: oral care/hygiene, habits (smoking, smokeless tobacco), genetics, medications that were prescribed tht have negative effects on teeth (tetracycline, methadone). My grandmother began to lose her teeth at age 16 due to the fact that the water quality in her hometown had no standards. If you have no luck finding any information, I can call my old boss and see what program it is for which she volunteers. She's done some beautiful work, not for the money; but to give a smile to people like you that just need.
You can keep your teeth until you're 100 if you take care of them. I think you should have the ones you have if you can. You can get partial dentures to fill in the spaces.
we'll i know what your talking about the bad teeth my life time
my parents spent alot money on my teeth growing up and it seems like i am still spending money if personal appearance affects your life i would say fix the problem now.

What would the dentist do if your gum are like swollen then there's a big bump on it?

Last december, my dentist said that I need a rootcanal. Or, if it get worst, they have to pull my tooth out. Then, last march, my tooth hurts really bad. Then, I told my mom to bring me to the dentist, but she didn't. Now, my gums are like swollen. And then a little bump on my gum appeared yesterday. And, when I woke up this morning, it got bigger, and I'm really scared.
Answer:
abscess - time for the dentist or the emergency room. I would go to the dentist and try to save the tooth, and maybe your life.
Gingivitis maybe?
i can anwser this cause it just happend to me last week. a bump on the gum, usually indicates that you do need a root canal. what has happened is you had a cavity, it went into the pulp of your tooth, now you have a infection inside your tooth. usually right above where the bump is. treatment for this is simple penicillin or antiboditcs, and of course, a root canal.
It sounds like you may have an abcess. I fthat's the case your dentist will either prescribe you antibiotics to take, or send you to your family doctor to get some. The antibiotics will reduce the swelling and kill the infection. After you finish all the medicine the dentist will most likely do a root canal or pull the tooth.
Abcessed teeth can be very dangerous and possibly even be fatal. Make sure you go to your dentist or doctor immediately.Good luck
If it's the same tooth you were referring to, then most likely an infection has developed. The pus is coming to the surface, hence the bump. Tell your mom, that having dental infections are no laughing matter. Problems in your mouth can carry on into your body and cause trouble there. The infection has to be drained and you could lose the tooth if a root canal is not considered appropriate at this time. Until you see a dentist, rinse your mouth with warm salt water several times a day. You can also in addition rinse with warm chamomille tea. But see your dentist soon.
That sounds like an abscess due to the tooth becoming infected. The bump is likely to be a pus-filled cyst from that infection. Get you mum to take you back to the dentist.
You have an infection in your tooth, you need to be put on antibiotics to have the swelling come down, and then you will need a root canal, core, and crown. This is the only way to get rid of the infection permanently. The antibiotics will get rid of the infection for now but it will return. I don't know your money situation or if you have insurance, but it is pretty expensive. Your only other option is the remove the tooth.
Time to talk to Mom- explain to her that she can get free or very reasonable treatment from a dentist- there should be an 800 number to call for a reference to a dentist.
yeah, thats bad, tell your mom you have an absess and that you heard that the infection will make you very sick, they will give you antibiotics whereever you go, your mom doesn't have to take you to the dentist... a clinic or emergency room will do that.. the dentist wouldn't do anything anyway because of the infection. He would want the infection to go away first, and then have you come back. If you can't get your mom to take you to the dentist, maybe you could go to a friends mom and ask her to talk to your mom?
Rinse with warm salt water and see your Dentist ASAP!
You have an abscessed tooth, the dentist will either try to save the tooth by prescribing you antibiotics, root canal or they might go ahead and pull it if you have had past problems with it.

What would happen to someone's orthodontic braces If they were to die with them on?

Answer:
docgobbler, you don't have to be such a jerk. i thought this question was kind of interesting. it's nice to read how other's think no matter how odd their question is.
It would probably eventually rust or something and decompose...
They would be buried with them? Why?
Yeah. They'd probably leave them on.
You have too much time on your hands to be thinking thoughts like this. In any case, the braces would be left on and the dentist would pro rate for the time that had been expended on the case. Geesh, go find something better to do!
it depends on the wishes of the person and of the family - if the family or the person really wanted them to be off then they would have them taken off. It's between the family and the funeral home at that point. So if you have them on, and you don't want to be buried in them and have in your will you want them off, then they'll take them off a dead person, and of course they would charge you for that. If it matters to you. Honestly when you are in that situation, you are in so much shock that it isn't going to matter that much to most people. I don't know why you would ask such a question. At that point it isn't going to matter.

What would happen if i didnt...?

forgot to wear my retainer 1 nite(i have been told to wear it every nite)
Answer:
Take it from me. I have worn orthodontic applieances for the past few years of life now. If you forget to wear your retainer for one night, your teeth will not fall out or go back into their original horrible position. Remember to put on your retainer before bedtime and also try to keep your retainer clean when not wearing it. As a rule, I try to wear mine every night but I do forget on occassion. Good luck!!
My sister wore a retainer for while..and there were several nights she forgot..But wear it everyday if you've been told, you'll only see results then! good luck!
Prob not much. But don't make it a habit. Doing that often or more days will give a greater chance of having your teeth shift. Wear them as long as your Ortho recommends to keep your teeth straight. Good luck! =)
U will get a skanking from the retainer police when I tell on u !!

What willl happen if i cut the webbing under my tounge will it be able to go out frther?

if i cut it i want my tounge to get longer like KISS and do chicks like long tounges for "special" purposes
Answer:
My webbing broke from an intense and suction-filled kiss! It bleed and hurt quite a bit.I don't find any difference - personally. This "kiss" I received was from a guy that didn't have a long tongue at all. He kissed amazingly and everthing else amazingly.I say don't do it. You either have the gift already or you don't. Women generally prefer stimulation while the tongue is flat anyway. You can just move your head around, not your tongue.Lenthening it could make it look gross. Many of my friends think the Gene Simmons tongue looks disgusting.Hope whatever you decide works out for you.
Yes it gets longer, and no, chicks don't dig it. Have a doctor do it if you decide to do it, but, yuck, gross.
yeah it would get longer
I heard that its there for a reason. Like if you cut it out you can choke on it and die like in your sleep and stuff. This sounds weird but i believe it because when i was little i tore mine and could swallow my tongue.
what kind of "special" purposes? *wink* *wink*
anyways. dont do it dude
if u do, then get it on video and post it on youtube.
that'll be some funny jackass material right there
Chicks will dig it, but only in the bedroom, don't do it in public... but if you do it in the bedroom, on a certain area, girls will LOVE it... u should get it done lol
um, i guess it would be longer, since there was nothing holding it back. but there would be a lot of blood, and you would have to re-learn to speak, im sure...
it can affect your speech skills as well as swallowing.
very ill advised
Your tongue will not be any longer than it is today, nor will it stick farther out of your mouth if you clip it. It is highly risky, too. There are more blood vessels in and under the tongue than you could ever imagine; you really don't want to mess with that!
Personally, it's not how long your tongue (or your dick) is, it's what you do with it. You boys don't get it; for some reason, you think that penetration with anything is the ultimate pleasure for a woman. You couldn't be farther from the truth.

What will they do??

Ok 2morrow i have a dentist appointment and i have braces, what is my dentist gonna do...could they mess up my braces or are they just gonna look at my teeth and take ex rays and send me out and go home? please help me, i had bad expereince [sp?] with the last dentist i had,and now i'm scared
Answer:
It depends on what the appointment is for. Most likely, the dentist will do an exam (looking in your mouth for any problems, etc) and a cleaning. The cleaning won't bother your braces at all, and nothing will hurt.If you're worried about having a bad experience with the new densist, ask a lot of questions and make sure he or she explains everything to you before it gets done. Good luck!

What will the dentist do to my tooth?

Ok, I'm really scared - I'm 16 and I haven't seen a dentist in about 3 years, I know I've got cavities in my teeth and last week I booked an appointment to see a dentist but the appointment isn't for 6 weeks. Anyway, I started to get toothache in one of my teeth the other day, it's got a pretty bad cavity in it. It's a bottom back tooth and it's got a kind of brownish hole in it going towards the back of the tooth and the two back corners have sort of rotted away I think. I went and bought some clove oil today and it's helped a bit, but then my mum smelled it and asked if I had a toothache, and she's phoned somewhere and got me an emergency appointment with a dentist tomorrow morning.I'm really scared - he's not going to have to pull out my tooth is he? Will I just get a filling in it or will it need to be pulled out? I'm really scared, I've had fillings before but it was when I was really young so I don't remember what happens. Help!
Answer:
You may get away with a filling, if there is infection you may need root canal but if the tooth is severely decayed, it may need to come out. Whatever happens, he will need your consent to do it so you have to make a decision and then you will get local anaesthetic. The needle is fine and very small so you will hardly feel it. After the local goes in, it may sting but after everything will be completely numb and all you will feel is the vibration from the drill. You shouldn't feel any pain at all. If there is infection, you may need antibiotics.Good luck!
nobody can tell you because it depends on how bad the tooth has rotted away...removing the tooth is usually a last resort.silly you not going to the dentist for 3 years when you know you have problems...if i was your mum..you wouldnt have had a choice!!
It may be best to have the tooth removed as its at the back of your mouth, your not gonna miss or it notice its gone, and it won't affect your smile. Also I had a tooth removed recently at back of my move as it was easier than going through root canal treatment. It wasn't sore either having it removed I was surprised as like you I thought it would be painful.
Your lucky to go. Dentist techniques are much better. Pain isn't something to worry about. That tooth will cause you more pain than the dentist. Sounds like it will be a root canal. They just clean it out and put a crown over the broken tooth. No biggy- really. If the tooth is all the way rotten then they may pull it, but you won't have to worry because the numb you up well and usualy when it has to be pulled it is ready to come out. Be brave, and you'll see it wasn't so bad. okay? Good luck.
I had the same problem few years back and i was too scared to go to the dentist, i hadn't been for years coz i had a phobia bout them i had brownish marks on my tooth your tooth has decayed, and so they wll have to do something about it, they may give you an injection so they can sort it out, i had this gel spread on my gum before i had the injection, which is great you don't feel the needle. they just filled mine in.hope all goes well for you! good luck
My opinion is pretty much the same as everyone else.
You do not have to be scared, it won't hurt you.
Please see the dentist now before you regret it when you get older, and just be brave, it will be over in no time.
I was afraid to go to the dentist as well, this is what I had done:
First a cleaning, then a few fillings, then pulled 2 back wisdom teeth, and finally 2 root canals; all these within two months. Now I feel much much better.GOOD LUCK..!!!
whatever happens you cant live wih toothache.just hope it can be treated....
i duno
Sounds like you may need a root filling. Toothache is caused by infection, so before the dentist can treat the tooth he will probably give you a course of antibiotics to take the infection away. The treatment wont hurt. The dentist will give you one or two injections into your gum which then will be completely numb. He uses a very fine needle to drill out the infected root and then fills it so it cannot be infected again. Make sure you go back regularly so it doesn,t happen to another one!
I have to pay for my dental treatment and its no joke! All the bestx
Most dentists absolutely hate to pull teeth unless there is no alternative.
Most likely he will give you a root-canal and a crown if that back tooth is almost gone. Don't worry..you won't feel anything.
If you are very nervous, ask for a sedative first.
Hello I had a similar problem with one of my bottom back teeth. I hated going to the dentist and the tooth had been filled previously and the filling came out and then a piece of the tooth came out, so I had a huge cavity and the corner of the tooth was missing. I did not want to go to the dentist but the school dentist came and checked everyone's teeth and sent a letter home saying I needed treatment. I still avoiding going for a while, eventually my Mum took me to the dentist, I need to have that tooth filled and 4 other teeth. He did in in 2 appointments doing the left side first then the right side. I then did not go to the dentist for another four years and I only went because a filling had fallen out from a different tooth and I went to a dentist who a friend recommended and all he did was fill that tooth, I now go every 6 months for a check up.Good luck at the dentist

What will i need to do for first time dentist visit?

do i need a cleaning and x-ray? anything else? this is a bit embarassing so no rude comments. im 13.
Answer:
Dont worry, I am a dentist and I can tell you that there is nothing to be nervous about. All of my new patients get a full exam and x-rays on their first visit. The dental hygenist will probably clean your teeth and your dentist will come in and talk with you, check your teeth him/herself and check your x-rays to see if you have any cavities. Just sit back and relax and let everyone do the work for you, it will over before you know it! Good luck!
Keep your cool. The Dentist isn't really a scary place to go.
Just brush your teeth and use mouth wash. The dentist will tell you what needs to be done. You parents should have taken you there a long time ago.
Eat a crapload of Oreos and then dont brush your teeth
They usually do a cleaning and x-rays. Usually the hygienist (the dentist's helper) does this part. Then when you're done the dentist will look over the hygienist's notes and discuss any further work you might need.
It would be advisable to let the dentist do a complete examination of your mouth. you will need to clean your teeth and if you have cavities you should fill them as quickly as possible so that they do not get worst. if there is anything else needed the dentist will tell you. Please go as soon as possible.and you should clean at least once per year and floss daily and brush at least in the morning and before going to bed. good luck
If you are a new patient, the dentist will take x rays of your teeth. Then they remove the plaque off your teeth before cleaning them. If anything is wrong, like a cavity, they will let you know so you can make a follow up appointment.

What will i look like with braces?

okay.
again, about braces.;is there any website that you guys know that will let me put a picture on there and see what i will look like with braces.
thats FREE, please.im 13 and broke.=]
thanks.
Answer:
no can't help you with that, but i can tell you that your lips will poke out a little bit more than usual because of the braces. you get used to it eventually. if you are confident in yourself, you won't really care how they look, at least you will have straight teeth afterwards!
i don't think there is a site like that but just wait!
it will be a suprise!
No, but they are not that bad. I was 29 when I got my braces and it's all about how you feel about yourself. You know that when it is all said and done you are going to have beautiful teeth. Mine are now causing gaps where there has never been gaps but I know that that is part of the process. Stay confident in yourself, and remember braces are not a new thing so may people have them young and older.

What will happen if you don't get your wisdom teeth removed and end up keeping them in?

Answer:
Did the dentist tell you that you had to have them removed? If he did, there is a reason. They can be impacted, they can abscess and become infected, they can cause crowding in the rest of your teeth (where they overlap). If they haven't come through the gums yet and you've had x-rays that show upcoming problems, then have them looked after. people remember nice smiles!
Sometimes dentists leave them in, because it isn't neccessary to take them out (sometimes). But it would probably hurt LESS to keep them in than having them removed.
they only get removed if theres not enough room for them. if there isn't you'll know.
they can stay in as long as they are not bone impacted or would cause crowding in your mouth...i HAD to take out mine...they were a mess..
i'm guessing being dead, but, not for infection or compacted teeth. mine were pushing against the teeth in front of them, making my throat swell up to where it was hard to breathe and next to impossible to eat.
most people get their wisdom teeth removed because they cant manage to get it clean.. there is no room for the wisdom teeth to grow.. or the wisdom teeth is causing a inflamation for the gum... iif you end up keeping them... make sure to get good care of it.. clean it well.. =)
Some people can keep there wisdom teeth because there jaw has the space for them but they are very hard to keep clean so you risk them getting cavities. If you don't have the space for them and you decide to keep them then your other teeth can shift and move which will cause you to have crooked teeth. It is best to have them removed. I have worked for a dentist for the past 6 years and we always recommend having them taken out.
I have 2 of mine still, they filled in some space from lost teeth. If you have the need and room, it is useful to have them. If they are crowding or shifting your other teeth, then they should come out. It's up to you to decide with your dentist.
Well, if you leave them in and you also have your other molars, they are really difficult to reach. Therefore, they don't get brushed or flossed most of the time. Normally, they will get a lot of cavities, so it's cheaper to remove them in the first place. If your mouth is too small they will remove them. Also, your wisdoms are the only teeth that are unpredictable. There is no telling what size, shape, or color they will be. Also, I've seen a lot of people's that have been completely side ways. It's just a lot easier to remove them. They are there because when mankind began they were eating a lot of raw meat, so the extra teeth were needed, we're not eating like that anymore. Therefor, we don't need em.
Most people dont have the space in their mouths for wisdom teeth to come in. If you leave them in they may start hurting you because they will start pressing on and displacing your other teeth. (pushing your other teeth forward causing pain and making your teeth crooked).
Mostly likely crowding or pain if they're impacted. For me, I had to get them out because 2 were impacted and causing jaw, ear, and headaches. I took all 4 out and the pain went with it.

What will happen if i brush my teeth with salt?

Answer:
during the depression my mother used salt later in life she used baking soda right out of the box ,,she flossed often,,,my mother had the nicest teeth and had them all with her when she passed away at 90 years old,,the last year of her life her beautiful teeth when blackened from medication from the nursing home,,,she was disabled the and have not seen a dentist the last 15 years of her life,,,I could still see her in my dreams showing me how to put the baking soda in my hand and wetting the tooth brush and dipping in the soda,,,it worked for her,,,just make sure you brush gently it is abrasive...I think the salt was used by my grandparents who where born in Italy
I would think your mouth would probably get very dry.just like ocean water!
nothing will hapen if u brush your teeth with salt- it might not be as clean as it would be with toothpaste but it wont harm u
i aint no dentist or nuthin, but i can tell you that salt will clean ur teeth well, but dont use too much o ur teeth mite start to decay.
Salt will clean your teeth, but you shouldn't use it because it is abrasive to the enamel on your teeth and eventually it will wear it down. The enamel on your teeth protects them from decay.
Nothing will happen much, except for a very clean mouth, and a salty taste. The the sodium chloride has an effect on the enamel structure of the tooth. What is means is, it is possible to remove stains on your teeth, such as coffee stains, tea stains, and wine stains. Just don't brush your teeth too much, or else you can eat away your teeth. I hope this was the best answer. Igorek, Dental Assistant.

What will do for the removal of bad smell in the mouth?

use of dant pari ,
Answer:
Gargle with baking soda and warm water first, then Scope. Make sure that none of your teeth or gums are infected. In other words, go to the dentist.
Clean your teeth with toothpaste 3 times a day, use mouthwash, like Listerine, and get your teeth checked, as cavities cause bad breath.
dont forget ur tongue get a scraper
It might not be your teeth. It can be caused by your stomach. get checked out by your dentist and see if you have any infected teeth, if all is clear than you can talk to your local doctor about the possibility that it is some odor caused by the gases in your stomach or something like that.

What will do for the removal of bad smell in the mouth?

use of dant pari ,
Answer:
When you brush your teeth (which you should do at least twice each day), you should also brush your tongue and the spaces between your teeth and cheeks. If you do that and still experience bad breath, you need to look at your diet. Poor diets can cause bad breath. Thing like smoking, coffee, spicy or odoriferous foods like onions and garlic can also cause it. Dental problems like gingivitis can also cause bad breath. If brushing doesn't help, see a dentist.
Altoids
Brushing your teeth daily and brushing your tongue, Or you could get those tongue scrubbers they take all the gunk out so that it doesn't smell. and then finish off with some listerine. it may hurt, but that just means it is working (:
Brush your teeth and your tongue. Rinse with mouth wash and use breath mints.
An easy way is to brush ur teeth everytime u hav ur meals.
If this doesn't work or if u think it's very time consuming just consult ur Dentist.
All the best
I suggest that when you brush your teeth, clean your tongue as well because this will remove the bacteria that causes bad breath...But I usually just carry a packet of mints around to cover the smell just in case :)
Brush your teeth two times a day and eat lots of curd
Taking care of your teeth(toothbrush and mouthwash)could be a best remedy. But sometimes bad breath are cause by the food that we ate or some disease into our internal organs.
just dont forget to brush your teeth after u have a meal..
Brush your tongue and use a tongue scraper. That's where all the bad breath germs are. Instead of just brushing up and down, go gently in a few directions, with a little toothpaste, then scrape. Gum makes one where there's a brush on one side and a scraper on the other. Good luck!
you should try brushing your teeth after every time you eat,or if you cant do that keep some mouthwash with you...if none of that works you should consult a doctor.

What will a dentist do for a chipped tooth?

Answer:
It depends on how big the chip is... We can not possibly answer without more information.
I had a chipped tooth years ago. A dentist put some type of cement on the chipped area. When it hardened it looked alright.
It depends on where it is. If it's one of the front teeth he'll probably put a cap on if it's too bad. Or he could contour it by smoothing off the rough edges and leave it the way it is. If it's a molar he could fill it, or put a cap on it, or smooth it down. Again, this would depend on how bad the chip is.
Either a cap, or, if the chip is small, he will use a UV hardened white epoxy. He will grind out the chip, to make sure he is down to clean tooth area, fill it, hit it with the UV and then, he will sand it with emory cloth and a horicle (a little file to use between the teeth).
They can probably put a crown on it. That's expensive if you don't have dental insurance. Or they can do tooth extraction. I got a chipped tooth from head collision i got into with another player playing basketball. It was year and three months ago. It feels fine for now.
My sister's husband was in a car accident, and chipped and broke several teeth. First, they removed them. He has a plate with teeth that fit perfect, and look perfect. Individual ones can be ground down, and capped. They're really good these days. I had extensive oral surgery myself, and was awake the whole time. It took a couple of hours, with 2 dentists. With the pain medication, you don't feel a single thing.
I've cracked off 4 of my front teeth. My dentist just used a white filling material to re-construct them. Nobody's been able to tell the difference.
The dentist will probably start by checking the tooth's nerves to make sure the tooth is still alive. Mine has done this a number of different ways, from cold air, to this electrode thing. Once he knows the tooth is ok, he/she will probably numb the area and reconstruct the tooth.

What types of glue (or cement are used to keep Crowns on teeth and what is the strongest?

I have been having crown problems for a whle and i was wondering is there a type of glue that hey dont use on like younger people getting crowns? Because I got mine (first time) Back in Noveber of 2006 and it broke off in febuary then I got it again and it bre off May again!! Is it because im yung and still growing? Or am i just cursed.
Answer:
no you arent cursed, if they have rely x at the detist office ask for that..that is the strongest or keytec is another strong cement...but yes it may be because you are young and still growing...and that is why they wont cement it with a stronger cement...you are absolutely right:)things you can do is try to chew on other side when eating sticky foods ex.bread(yes this is sticky, took off my crown eating a hero) try chewing gum on other side stuff like that when you can...its annoying trust me i have crowns i know once you get a little older im sure it wont be thins annoying...another thing you can do is ask your dentist the reason that the cement isnt working, does the crown feel smooth, glass like(real crown) or a little rough(temporary) they may have made you a temp until you get a little older so ask about that as well...maybe they can provide you with an explaination as well...good luck:)
HELLO,
THERE ARE VERY STRONG CEMENTS FOR PERMANENT CROWNS. W/O KNOWING WHAT YOUR DENTIST DID FOR YOU AND YOUR TOOTH EXACTLY I CANNOT COMMENT.
It sounds like a temporary crown. Is it silver? If you are less than 18 many dentists will wait to put a permanent crown on because your teeth are still erupting. If you put a permanent crown on too soon, later in life it looks like the tooth is wearing a bikini. Not enough crown to cover all the tooth..lol. If it is coming off you probably clench your teeth at night and that can loosen the cement. See if they are using permanent type cement and if not ask them too.
growing is not a cause for a crown to fall
either you have very short teeth or the crown is not fitting in place
there is a lot of cements but the most power full is resin based cement
then comes the glass ionomer type cements

What types of glue (or cemen are used to kee Crrowns on teeth and what is the strongest?

the strongest cements are any resin-reinforced glass ionomers and any type of resin-based cements.I personally use Fuji-Plus, Maxcem and Panavia for permanent crowns. When I did work at other dental clinics, they used some cheaper alternatives and some crowns would come off. These would include Ketac, Durelon and glass ionomers.

What type of toothpaste do you use?

Answer:
Anything that doesn't have fluoride--http://mind-mart.com/truth-about-fluorid...http://mind-mart.com/parodontax-herbal-t...http://mind-mart.com/creme-dentifrice-bo...http://mind-mart.com/auromere-mint-tooth...
Plain baking soda.
colgate
Polident ... really holds in my dentures...
Sensodyne with floride, now I can eat cold %26 hot things!!
Crest (the Cinnamon-y kind)
My dentist suggested: colgate, total, so that is what I use.
crest, minty one
i use colgate or w.e =]
I had this GREAT dentist that told me that toothpaste is for FUN.
It's good that he told me that...'cause it makes me GAG! It's the brushing that counts.not the paste. I like Sensodyne... because I'm older and have partial-plates... but before... I liked Colgate... just 'cause it's ALSO good for bug bites and poison-ivy! The important thing about brushing your teeth is the WAY you do it and for HOW long. Flossing is the BEST! Do it after you brush.while watching TV or reading is the best. Just as long as you get all the plaque out from between your teeth and making sure you RINSE! Believe me... you don't WANT dentures or a partial plate! Hugs, Gina C.
Did you know that tooth paste was invented in Kentucky? Well if had been invented anywhere else it would have been called teeth paste. So I don't use "tooth" paste. Now don't you good folks in Kentucky take offense, I could've named any one of the areas in the Arkabamasee region. All right, go ahead, take your best shot.
Sensodyne
Colgate Total or Crest Whitening Expressions... depends on what's in the house at the moment.
Crest Rejuvenating Effects. A couple of times a week I add a bit of baking soda and kosher salt to help cut down on staining from tea and coffee.Works great for whitening and freshening and does not strip or damage my tooth enamel like a lot of commercial whitening will do.Gina C is completely correct about flossing, I have worked in an oral surgeons office and have seen the damage that can be done by skipping the flossing, including a women in her mid twenties who had extensive damage to the nerves and soft tissue due to decay from between the teeth. She rarely flossed, and her teeth were causing her to have multiple infections in her mouth. My family and I learned to floss twice daily after knowing about her going through that experience. Happy smiling and healthy teeth.
Crest with scope
Well my dad, being a dentist uses and reccomends Aquafresh. Also stay away from toothpastes that have whitening because they make your teeth sensitive
The best toothpaste is Arm and Hammer, Brilliant Sparkle With baking soda and proxside, it works amazing and taste very good, scrubby bubbley lol, another good tooth paste is Colgate.
Arm and hammer is pretty much the best. Advance White is amazing too,
Crest Pro-Health.
None, I brush after I eat (and floss when I remember to) but I don't use toothpaste. I use baking soda occasionally for stains.I've had a suspicion that toothpaste is detrimental to your teeth when I went hitchhiking and didn't always have facilities for tooth brushing, so I did as above and my teeth actually healed the cavities that I had already. None of them were huge mind you, just little 'x's on top but after a few months they were covered with a nice new layer of white bone.We know that our other bones heal, it isn't so surprising that our teeth do as well.
Crest Pro-Health

What type of toothpaste could help my teeth become more white?

My teeth are white and i wanted to know if there is a toothpaste out there that works wonders on making teeth white as if they got bleached. I just do not trust bleaching my teeth i dont want to go all that far.
Answer:
rembrandt toothpaste and arm and hammer toothpaste both specialize in whitening teeth. crest and colgate also sell a non prescription teeth whitener that you just brush over your teeth. you'll find all of this at your local grocery or drug store.
peroxide and baking soda
Yes, there are some toothpaste products that have hydrogen peroxide put in to the mixture to help make teeth whiter. I think that Crest has a product like this and also I think Aquafresh does too.
In addition to whitening toothpastes (of which there are many) you can also try Listerine Whitening Pre-Brush Rinse. I use it daily and I'm very happy with the results. You simply rinse with it for one minute before brushing and it keeps your teeth nice and white. :)
since you already have white teeth then you only have to maintain and make them more whiter by drinking lots of white milk and brushing your teeth atleast twice a day.

What toothpaste should people use? What are some do's and don'ts?

I always hear different things - like no baking soda, or yes baking soda. Or less is more... So what's best?
Answer:
If you have sensitive teeth stay away from the harsh abrasives like baking soda. Stick to the usual Crest, Colgate. The main objective is always use a toothpaste that has fluoride, and the ada labels.
i use crest but i prefer colgate...and im not sure about the other advice
My dentist recommended Colgate Total because it has a combination of triclosan to fight gingivitis. Sensodyne for sensitive teeth. Baking soda is effective in whitening teeth. But I heard most whitening toothpastes don't' give great result. Because they're on your teeth for too little time. Finding one that you like and brush longer with can give better or same results. I think any toothpaste that has fluoride is good.

What toothbrush and toothpaste should I use while having braces?

ORAL-B PUSLER toothbrush and AQUAFRESH toothpaste are those good things to use for you teet while having braces?
Answer:
When i had braces they told me not to use whitening toothpaste.
I just got my braces off in March 07 and I used the "Phillips Sonicare Elite" tooth brush (I was dating a dental Hygenist at that time) and he got it for me, and he also got me "Crest Pro-Health" toothpaste, I also used "Listerine Whitening Pre-Brush Rinse" My teeth are beautiful now!
Good Luck to you, Braces are a pain in the hiney! LOL!
My orthodontist told me to use a Sonicare toothbrush and prescribed me a prescription toothpaste called Colgate Prevident

What to expect?

Going to the dentist. I haven't been to a dentist in a very long time and I mean a long time.Today I was chewing on a tootsie roll and my tooth broke, so I had to call a dentist. Now I have appointment tomorrow, do you think they will fix the tooth then or would I have to come back for another appointment. It doesn't hurt, kinda more annoying than anything and hard to chew on the other side of my mouth. I know I should go to the dentist on a regular bases but it's just a pain in the ***. And it's not that I don't have insurance cuz I do. Been paying for it for 18 years, just never used it.Now ya know it's been over 18 years since I've been to a dentist.
Answer:
First of all, be aware of the fact that dental insurance is a supplement, not full coverage like medical insurance. If the dentist has enough room in his/her schedule, getting that tooth fixed may be a possibility. But if you have other teeth that present more decay, those will be a priority. If you can't chew comfortably on the other side of your mouth, you may have a bigger problem than you know. Because you haven't had regular cleanings, your gums may be sore, irritated, or you may have periodontal disease. This is not a reversible condition. You can stop the loss of gum tissue, but you cannot grow them back. The assistant will take x-rays, the dentist will diagnose your treatment. The first visit usually involves processing paperwork and finding out exactly what needs to be done. There have been a lot of advances in dentistry in recent years; so don't psych yourself out. You should feel no pain; at the most you may feel some discomfort.Relax, you'll be fine. I had a patient today who hadn't visited a dentist in 20 years due to a bad experience. Now her dental insurance will only cover 6 teeth out of the 9 that need work. I'm not saying this will happen to you. I am saying that it is much easier to keep regularly scheduled visits so you can avoid having the need for extensive, costly work.
Kind of hard to answer this one- if the tooth is cracked largely they may just put on a temporary crown and have you come back later. Maybe that tootsie roll did you a favor- now you can go use your dental insurance.
WOW you probably are looking at several trips to the dentist. they will x-ray and clean your teeth and maybe fix that broken one if it is causing lots of pain. Then they will tell you how many cavities that you have and my dentist will only numb one side of your mouth at a time so if you only have two cavities and they are on different sides of your mouth then you will have to go two times to the dentist but I don't think they are all like that. The scraping sound is what kills me when they are cleaning but for the most part it is not horribly painful you'll be okay
Man you gonna have a mess load of appointments after he gets through with you. Sorry
healthy teeth don't just mysteriously break. did you have a filling ther already, maybe it was old and ready to fall out anyway, or you have decay in that tooth and it broke through. either way don't be embarrassed, the important thing is that your going now. if your new office gives you a hard time, then they are not the office for you. it will probably take the hygienist some time to clean your teeth, probably more than one appointment after 18 years. they can also do freezing for the cleaning if you find it uncomfortable.
ps maybe tootsie rolls are not your best snack idea :)

What to eat after bottom teeth are removed?

Answer:
sloppy food that don't need chewing such as soup and mash and fruit and veg that you can puree
Ice Cream
ice cream
Pudding.
You will have to eat really soft stuff like mashed potatoes, soup, ice cream.
icecream, yogart , and NoT solid food?
ice cream, pudding, jello, anything soft will work..
Well whatever you can chew. Go for the softer foods.(muffins, mashed potatoes, applesauce, yogurt, scrambled eggs, maybe meat loaf. If you feel you are not getting enough nutrients try some protein shakes and take some vitamins too. Good luck. =)
I'm still coping with having to eat soft foods after my extractions. The swelling went down to normal, but until I get
some bridges or false teeth, I still have to maintain a soft
food diet. So this is what I'm doing.
For breakfast, make soft scrambled eggs with American
cheese whipped into the bowl. Then pour into the frying pan
and stir quickly so they won't stick. The cheese will make them really soft and tastier. You can eat toast, if you toast it
lightly and tear pieces off to chew with your front teeth. Drinking a hot drink like tea or coffee with saturate the bread
to keep you from having to chew or bite much.
Also make Cream of Wheat, Malto Meal, or Oatmeal. Not
much chewing required with those.
Lunch is tuna on bread and a cup of soup. Or a pasta
entree from the frozen food dept. I've had alot of those. You
can use the blender to pulverize alot of meat things. Do that
and make up skillet pasta meals adding tomato sauce or
creamed soups and a bit of water to cover the noodles and cook til the noodles are tender and the water is absorbed.
TV dinner entrees have alot of 'meats' that are patties and
easy to gum to death LOL. I suspect they aren't all meat any-
way. Mac and cheese is also a safe bet. Just cook the
noodles past al dente and make them soft or mushy before
draining the water off and adding real cheese after using the
dried package of seasoning and milk. The more cheese,
the tastier the noodles. You can try spaghetti also, just over-
cook the noodles and use less meat in the sauce. Maybe
just using the prepared jar sauces will do.
You will want a varied menu as the soup or jello route will be boring before you know it, and you'll need more energy also. So just pulverize with your blender with alot of meats. Make lots of pasta or rice meals. Buy frozen foods that only have to be heated through, and you'll get through the swelling period in no time.
Scrambled eggs, mashed potates, jello, ice cream, pudding, soup, peanur butter, bread, anything very soft

What the hex?!?

Okay..I got my braces off a week ago Thursday. I was happy with them when I first got them off, but now they just look bad. I've been wearing my retainer faithfully and they're just not doing it for me. It seems as though I have a horrible overbite and my teeth aren't aligned as well as they were right when I got them off. My mom called and set me an appointment for tomarrow morning. What are the chances that they put braces back on? and am I paranoid or could my teeth really have changed that much? I just hate them and feel as though getting braces on was a waste of time for them to turn out this way.
Answer:
An adjustment period occurs after you get your braces off, unless they screwed up you shouldn't have to get the braces on again. One of my friends wore braces for 8 years, and didn't like how his teeth came out!
How long did you wear braces on your teeth? Sometimes it is not your teeth that are out of line, but your jaw. If you were in braces for over 2 years, you may need jaw surgery to correct the overbite. They will put you back in braces if surgery is needed, but not for very long usually. Stop looking at them so critically, it'll only drive you crazy..Good luck.
It's possible for teeth to move quickly. If you have been faithfully wearing your retainer, it may not fit correctly. An evaluation by your orthodontist is a good idea. Because it's only been a week since your braces came off, more conservative measures may be possible than putting braces back on. Your orthodontist may recommend a bonded retainer, which is a small piece of wire (no brackets like with the braces) that is bonded to the back of your teeth to hold them in place. It's not uncommon to have this done for at least a year or more to prevent movement of the teeth. If you are unhappy with the way the teeth look now and going through braces again would not change that, cosmetic dentistry may be an option for you. Your primary dentist and your orthodontist can consult with you and your parents about the treatment options that would best serve your particular situation. Good luck!
It is highly unlikely that your teeth shifted in just a few weeks especially if you have been wearing your retainer. You mentioned you have an overbite. Most people do have their top teeth out a little further than their lower teeth. If yours are out a lot, it may be that you did not get enough corretion and braces alone won't do it. It is hard to say without seeing pictures. You should probably look at some orthodontists websites for before and after pictures to get some perspective on your results. You may be overly critical of your teeth.

What the heck do I do with three broken teeth and 5 cavites?

Hi :) So I have had a cavity that spread to another tooth since it started between teeth since 2005. Now one of my molars is missing the front of the tooth and the other is missing the back. It can be painful, but its manageable...sometimes its extrememe though. All I see is dark in the inside...no blisters or anything like that. On the other side of my mouth, I have a cavity thats been progressing for nearly a year now,and that one also broke...and while it isnt painful like it used to be at times, it looks kind of scary as there is some red within the tooth...not the cavity. And a few weeks ago, my jaw was swelled and I felt kind of a bump by it, but that may have been due to my wisdom tooth coming in behind it. Im not sure. I dont have a dollar to go to the dentist with since Im a student, and you can bet I dont have any insurance. What the heck should I do?
Answer:
The first thing you need to do Brittany is lay of the sugar drinks! Soda pop with sugar is the prime reason I would bet you have so many very decayed teeth. Every time you take a drink or chew on something with sugar in it, the acid clock starts ticking. It takes around 30 mins. for the saliva to neutralize from the acid levels. You can sip on 1 or 2 sugary drinks all day long and that is worse than having 3 or 4 that you drink quickly or with meals. Rinse out with water if you can not brush your teeth after eating anything sugary. Use sugarless drinks, gums, mints. OK, now to your actual question..lol. You will need to check with the local care giving organizations such as Salvation Army. They may be able to direct you to facilities that help uninsured people with severe dental problems such as yours. How old are you? You said a student, but is that high school or college? Check with social services to see if you are eligible for Medicaid. From the description you gave of your teeth, some will need to be extracted. Getting rid of the infection is very important, act as soon as you can. If nothing else go to the Emergency Room and see if antibiotics can be prescribed for you. But remember, the infection will come back.
I understand the $$ being a problem, but you MUST see a dentist. Those teeth could become abscessed, and the infection could spread through your body, making you very ill. Is there a dental college near you? They usually have clinics where dental work is far less expensive. If nothing else, go to the student health center and ask them for advice.
I feel for you. By the way why aren't your parents helping with your dental care until you are able to?? They should help you.
I have worked as a dental assistant for over 10 years and have seen lots of what you are describing and know that people have come in with toothaches and feel so bad for the pain they are suffering. I don't know what area you live in but you need to find out if there are and rural health centers in your area. I live in a small county and we are fortunate for our area that we have these centers. They usually have dental clinics in them and you pay on a sliding fee schedule. There has got to be something there in your area to help you out. the little lump oor bump was more than likely an abcess developing or has been there for quite awhile waiting to flair up. You need to get an antibiotic to get rid of the infection now mind you this is only going to aleviate the pain for awhile but it will come back unfortunately. Try searching your area for low cost dental care or rural health centers that could at least guide you in the right direction. It may still be possible to save the teeth that have broken and decayed but you may have to have them extracted and bridge or something else done. I hope this helps you and hope you find some help. By the way why aren't your parents helping with your dental care until you are able to?? They should help you. Good Luck and Take care!
I agree you have to go to the dentist NOW! If you put it off and the infection does spread, you WILL die! Not to scare you, but your mouth is a direct root to your heart. Barrow the money, do what ever you have to in order to get in to an office.

What the costs of a nose job, lasik eye surgery ,dental sugery?

the nose job is just to make my nose straighter,
lasik for both eyes
i would like to make my 2 front teeth smaller, remove wisdom teeth, recieve braces to straighten my teeth and also whitening.
Answer:
Wow. Hope you have lots of money. Costs vary from location to location, so these are just general figures. Nose job (Rhinoplasty) costs in the neighborhood of $3500. Industry sources report that the average LASIK price in the second and third quarters of 2006 was about $1,950. To make your front teeth smaller would require crowns, at a cost of around $600 each. Wisdom teeth removal depends on how complicated the surgery will be and run from $150 a tooth to $400-$500 if impacted. Braces cost from $3000-$5000 and teeth whitening costs in the neighborhood of $500-$600. All totalled, your changes would cost a minimum of $11,000 and up to $14000.
i got a nose job and it cost me $6000 Canadian dollars. I have no regrets and it was the best thing i did. I had no pain besides being nauxious for a couple of days. Good luck

What that can be?

Every time after i wake and spill in a sink its blood.Sometimes its brown color. But its no blood driping nowhere in a mouth. Is that bleeding gums or what is that?anybody have that. And how i can cure?
Answer:
Go visit a Dentist
Sounds like gingivitis (I think that's how you spell it?). It's bleeding of the gums, my friend has it and she buys special mouth wash that helps with the problem. I'd go and see the dentist to be sure.
look on www.nhsdirect.co.uk it should be able to help. Good luck
Not sure if this is pertinant to you or not, but I know that after I moved from a humid environment to a desert climate, I had something similar happen to me. The dry air was irritating my nasal passages as I slept and I was getting a bloody postnasal drip while I slept... in the AM I would have a spit full of blood with no clue where it came from. the doc suggested a humidifier and it all went away...
SOUNDS LIKE WHAT CHRISSIE SAID, HEY CHRISSIE, EMAIL ME, THX

What sort of foods are good for a person who just got their wisdom teeth out?

My best friend is getting her wisdom teeth out tomorrow morning. I want to bring her something. I know it probably shouldn't be solid food. What should I bring her?
Answer:
Smoothies that can be "eaten" with a spoon are great. %26lt;No sucking through a straw!!%26gt; They have a lot of nutrients and can be blended well. Also- mashed potatoes or soup/broth (if she wants something warm.) And the classics- jello, pudding, yogurt and ice cream. Don't forget a movie she can watch too :)
jello, soup (no chunks), pudding, ice cream, yogurt. soft things.
WARM---not hot---soup. Nothing soft till MAYBE tomorrow night or Tuesday ----nothing hard until at LEAST Friday.tell her to take 6 to 8 sandwich bags and put ICE CUBES in them----she will need them for her cheeks tomorrow when she comes home from the surgery----ice packs like this will help with the pain AND keep the swelling down..
This is what I lived on when I got my wisdome teeth out:Pudding
yogurt
jello
ice cream
mashed potatoes
soup Its all considered soft or liquid so she wont have to chew it at all or much! I wish her luck it's not a fun time!! I was lucky and had a very quick recovery and that is what I hope for her!
Ice cream or jello.
Cold or room tempeture food for the first day. Soups (blending it helps), ice cream, yogurt, jello, porridge, anything that you don't need to chew. I drank a lot of water and juices too. Bring her some of her fav movies or magazines since she'll prob be resting all day. =)
ice cream with help ur month the pain, but it slow down the healing
soft foods, like yogurt, puddings, jello, anything that doesn't need alot of chewing, also she may not be able to open very wide, I would take her some of the individual pudding snacks in her favorite flavor's
When you have had your teeth taken out there's really nothing you can eat except for soft foods and soup. Sometimes it's not very appetizing but it causes less pain than hard food.

What should the color inside the chipped tooth be? what would happen if it was pinkish?

what would be the pain. needles?
Answer:
If you see pink on the inside part of a chipped tooth, then that's very deep. Chances are very high that you'll need a root canal, and then probably a crown. My advice would be to get it done NOW, before the pain starts - believe me, there will be much less pain (maybe even no pain) if you treat it before the tooth starts to ache.

What should one do in one day to have the best dental health?

I brush twice a day and use hydrogen peroxide as a mouthwash twice a day. I also floss every other day and sometimes I use salt water as a mouthwash.
Answer:
Brush after every meal. Don;t let the bacteria get started.
Floss once a day. 24 hours is how long it takes for the second layer to form on teeth.
If you use hydrogen peroxide for a while, the papilla of the tongue will hypertrophy. Not a good thing. Salt water is fine.
Mouthwashes do dot help much. The bacteria multiply to former levels so quickly that there is not time enough to do good. On the other hand, most do not hurt anything.
Reduce sugars. Carbohydrates are the substrate that bacteria need. If there is no substrate, there can be no problem.
buy an oral irigator they are awsome
You've got everything I do beat! Good luck with your teeth.
To have perfect dental health - do not drink any soda or sugary juices. That eats away your teeth enamel.Brush 2 times a day and floss once. Use a mouthwash (or the hydrogen perox) and try to stay away from too much sugar.
You should drink much limoo he helps to keep enaf bekteria in mouth
Wow! You must have very healthy teeth and gums. The only thing, instead of flossing every other day, floss every night.
Happy smiles to you.
Haha... you sound like your fine... Some advice though, try brushing three times a day,the Listerine Mouthwash two times a day, floss everyday, and don't hesitate to use Crest Whitestrips...
Sometimes you can do all that and have the worst dental health, depending on your genetic make up..

WaterPix are great, you could get a Sonicare - if you don't already have one - those are great. Also, use a tongue cleaner, you can buy toothbrushes with them on now and save some money. The Colgate 360 works great. Flossing and rising is great. And because you didn't mention it, visit the dentist every 6 months.
brush 3 X a day and rinse with listerine...its icky tasting but works.
Floss everyday instead of every other day. And keep up w/dental cleanings. =)

What should I do to get rid of cavity in the making?

It is BETWEEN teeth and I want easy ways to prevent this from becoming a full cavity.
Answer:
You have a very good dentist it sounds like. He is not in the business of making a bunch of $$$ but is looking out for your health. NO filling is as good as a natural tooth and yes, incipient decay can be reversed. Would you believe that your own little body can take care of this by itself? All you have to do is keep this area clean by brushing and flossing.how simple is that? Just be sure to use a fluoride toothpaste and it wouldn't hurt to use a fluoride mouthrinse also to give you body a helping hand. Good luck!
You should go to the dentist and get it filled. I dont think there is anyway to prevent it from getting bigger after its already started.
Sorry.
It dont hurt to get them filled though.
Brush 2xper day, and floss. If it is already a cavity. Then you need to get it fixed. Decay only spreads and will contaminate your other teeth. Decay is a bacteria in your mouth that once it is there it is always there. If you drink soda's or juices only drink them with your meals. Water as much as possible. You can use ACT over the counter at bedtime after flossing, and brushing. Then rinse with ACT.Do not rinse with water after, just let it adhere to your teeth. Chew gum with Xylitol after meals. It is a good sugar that eats the bad bacteria that cause decay. Be careful not to chew it too much though because it can make your stomach hurt.
I'm in the same situation. I didn't even know it was there until my check up. My dentist tells me to get it filled now.My friends have told me to use Listerine and Listerine w/ Flouride, which may help.Wish me luck - it's my first cavity.
If it's not a cavity yet, just a decalcified area try using Arm and Hammer's new toothpaste that has liquid calcium in it. I can't remember the exact name, just look for the "liquid calcium" on the box. You MUST floss it in between the teeth every day for it to have the effect you want. Another option is to get a fluoride gel from your dentist and floss it in between. Cut out chewing gum and drinking cokes. The sugar and acid content in these lead to decay..
You can't, once it starts it can't be gotten rid of without a filling. Think of cavities like bugs, they just keep spreading when you feed them. The feed off sugars, natural and refined. Go to the dentist.

What should i do if my back tooth cracks and aches?

Answer:
This happened to me a few years ago, so I know from personal experience what you are going through. It aches! You will need to get in to see a dentist as soon as possible! You may need a root canal if the area in and around the tooth is very sensitive to hot and cold. (Especially cold). You will most likely need a crown. Hopefully the tooth is not too badly cracked and it can be saved (by placing a crown over it). The root canal (if the dentist feels that it's needed), is done first by either your dentist or an oral surgeon (dental specialist). Then after that, your regular dentist will fit you for the crown and begin the procedure to have the crown constructed (to fit over your existing tooth) and try and match the color as close as possible. He places a temporary crown over the existing cracked tooth to alleviate the pain. The new crown takes about 10 days-2 weeks to be made. You may be lucky, cost wise, and just need the crown done. That's not a painful procedure. The root canal is an uncomfortable procedure, but the specialist will administer Novocaine. Your other option is to have the rest of the tooth extracted. If the densitst feels the cracked tooth cannot be saved, he will go over all of your options. If you don't need a root canal, then the pain should subside after the cracked tooth is removed. Most dentists prefer to try and save the tooth. But, usually the pain you are experiencing is from the roots of the tooth being exposed and sensitive to hot and cold elements that you drink or eat. So, watch drinking anything too cold! And don't eat ice cream! In the meantime for the pain, I took Advil every 8 hours for the pain. A soon as the Advil wore off though, the pain came back. Advil worked for me until I could get in to see the dentist. Just don't overdose on it! Otherwise, the dentist would have to prescribe a stronger pain pill for you. Once the root canal is done, (again, if needed), or a temporary crown put in place, the pain is gone, (while you wait for the permanent crown) (Thank goodness!)You're going to get another toothache though, when the dentist tells you how much it will all cost. It's not cheap. I had dental insurance at the time, and it still cost me a fair amount of money for my share of the costs. The root canal, for instance, was $450.00 each (I needed two) for my share. The crowns (I needed three) were $350.00 each for my share. This will give you an idea. Hopefully you have dental insurance. If not, most dentists will work with you with payments, because you don't go in for all the work at at one time.I hope I have helped you. I really feel for your pain. Take care and good luck to you.
DENTIST MAYBE I DONT KNOW CALL ME CRAZY
you need to get to a dentist and they will either pull it or put a cap on it. In the meantime you can buy over the counter dental sealant at the drug store.
I agree with Joey. What are you waiting for?
Go to the Dentist and get it capped, but if you can't afford the Dentist I suggest the Following. Orajel, Morphine, Lora tab, Rum, Gin, or Ever Clear.
I think they call those people that fix that kind of problem a DENTIST.but i may be wrong.
Shoot yourself, the pain will go away.
You need to get medical/Dental help Bub.
The thing can abscess, cause Mucho Infection! Could possibly cause Blood infection!, Mighty close to your brain, I have heard several horror stories about neglecting that kind of trauma.
Im not a Dentist but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.Have a seat and say...aaahhhh
I've had this happen to me twice, I actually chipped my front tooth (hockey) and had a recapping done. When this happens it means you will likely have to have a root canal. Everyone says they are horrible but they are really not that bad especially if you go with the sedation route. Don't let the problem linger. it will only cause for a longer procedure wen it comes time to get the drill.
See your dentist!
Most likely need to have it extracted...

What should I do for a really bad tooth ache?

Please offer some advice. I feel very ill. My dentist will not be back until Thursday, and he been out for two weeks. I been in so much pain. Thank you in advance.
Answer:
I would say that you should go to the hospital or to another dentist ASAP. If your tooth or gum is infected that is not a good thing for you body. The infection can spread and rage through your body getting you really sick. The dentist usually will prescribe penicillin or some other antibiotic for you at first. They will not even work on you tooth until you are finished the pills. They will also prescribe a painkiller stronger than something over the counter like a Tylenol with codeine. Not trying to scare you but get to a Dr. asap. i should know! I'm going to be one :)
I would try Tylenol and Motrin or Advil. Also, try Orajel or Anbesol. Those are some "quick fixes" until you can get the bigger problem fixed.
my dad always used cloves for his toothaches. It seemed to work for him.
try another dentist. ask a friend for a recommendation. you shouldn't wait that long to have it looked at.
Your Doctor should have someone covering for him. Ambesol will help. Also tray mouthwash with Listerine.
take ice water ..but mak sur u don get fever
You can go to another dentist that is in your location or in your insurance policy provider or you can use tylenol and orgel.. Sears takes walkins also, that is if you have one nearby.
hi maria .nothing worse than a tooth ache try rubbing cloves on your gums take a couple of panadole and and a warm flannel or hot water bottle on your face...good luck
If your dentist is away and doesn't have anyone covering for him in his absence, get off the computer and go to the emergency room! Sounds like you need antibiotics asap...By the time your dentist returns, your infection should be under control and he/she should be able to evaluate the tooth and recommend/perform treatment.Good luck!
Press an ice pack to your face, and/or use a pain reliever like ibuprofen or naproxin. I, personally, have no luck with OTC oral anesthetics like Orajel; they tend to wear off extremely quickly when I use them.
you have to go to another doctor, or live with the pain...go to another doctor!
Go to walgreens or rite aid and get some orajel for adults and put it on the end of a toothpick and place it directly on the pain.
Been, there, done, that.

What should I do for a chipped tooth?

Answer:
Go to the dentist they can fix it.
Get it fixed by a good dentist to make it look like it was never chipped.
Go to the dentist and they can fix it. You will most likely need to get a crown.
Chip the same exact tooth on the other side of your mouth so that you look symmetrical.
Go and get it bonded and fixed. It isn't that expensive, but if you wait too long it could get a cavity or worse yet lose most of it then it is gonna be expensive to fix. A stitch in time saves nine.
try the aspirin trick. put an aspirin "on" the target tooth hold there for 15 to 20 minutes (you may need to replace aspirin tablet as it disolves). this will kill the nerve and you can go about your business 'til you can get to a dentist. (wich is an eventual must)

What should I do about the sores in my mouth?

I often get lots of canker sores in my mouth at one time. I've tried salt water, tea tree oil and chloraseptic. None of it works!! I need any remedies you have for me! Thank You!!
Answer:
There is a product I use that works really well. It is called Gly-Oxide. It is peroxide based. Apply it directly to the sore and let it sit for around 20 to 30 seconds to let the peroxide work on the area. You can actually apply it several times. It helps if you dry the area with a q-tip first. Hope this helps.
stop eating what ever spicy /acidic food like you have been eating
i've also heard if you swish some maalox over the sores it can help ..
don't eat spicey foods and put toothpaste on it everyday and don't bit the inside of your mouth that is what makes the sore.
After suffering with long-lasting canker sores for decades, I talked with my dentist about 10 years ago and he suggested I try taking Lysine (an amino acid, found in the vitamin/supplements section of any drugstore). I take 500 mg per day, and I've had almost NO canker sores since - even when they seem to be developing, they typically heal over within the same day. It doesn't work for everyone, but it's definitely worth a try. The cost is low, and since it's a natural amino acid there are no downsides.
For short term relief you can mix liquid Benedryl with Kaopectate in a 50/50 mix. Swish for thirty seconds and spit. The Benedryl has an anesthetic affect on the sores. For the long term try Rembrandt tooth paste. This will help you keep from getting the canker sores, also talk to your dentitst about laser therapy on the sores. This will decrease the pain and increase the healing time, as well as help keep you from getting them in the same place. Good Luck.
OWWWWWWWWW!! that has gotta hurt! what i did was I put alum on it, it stung so much for like 20 seconds but then it didn't hurt and then when I ate food i put the food on the sore it didn't hurt! well i hope you use my help it worked all the time!

What should I do about my wisdom teeth? I'm only 14?

I'm 14 and all of my wisdom teeth are already in. But now they're starting to hurt and the side of my cheek (by my wisdom tooth) is hurting really bad that i've been taking tylenol to make it stop. IS it even possible to have your wisdom teeth removed at age 14? Will this go away without taking care of it? Everytime i chew on something it hurts really bad. Please help, thanks!
Answer:
I'm 19 and I had my ONE (I only had one) wisdom tooth pulled before it ever even came out because my dentist said that was the best thing to do. I'm sure if your dentist, or any dentist, heard you say that at 14 your wisdoms were in and hurting you that they needed to come out. You could really damage your other teeth if they stay in too long or get an infection. It only takes minutes to get them out and only takes about 2 weeks to heal up. (I know that seems like a while, but it's worth it.)Get 'em out. See a dentist.
get it pulled
You could have an infection in your tooth. Go to the dentist. Try rinsing your mouth with salt solution in the meantime. Let the dentist tell you if you need the tooth pulled. I don't think it matters how old you are.
go to a dentist, and tell him the problem, well, tell your parents
Yes, you can get it taken out - it'd probably be better now anyways so that the rest of your teeth can settle in. But make sure that you're flossing around it and all that, since something just might be stuck there. But you definitely should get it checked out, since tylenol can only do so much.
i had mine removed when i was only 14 or 15 that is the best way to go, and you can also go and get the stuff that they use for babies that are teething that make your gums kind of numb, i think they carry it in most drug stores
HELLO,
SEE A DENTIST.
Removing it is a better choice however u should see your dentist %26 he should be able to better advise you.
Sometime it might not be due to wisdom tooth like what you thot.

What should I do about my teeth?

I ABSOULTLY HATE THEM!!
What should I do? I mean I can't get braces, but my teeth are so croocked some people even offer to pay for them for me!
It is really embarassing and I really want to change them. What can I do untill I do get braces? My teeth are so crooked I don't even smile that much anymore in pictures!
My teeth are crooked and ugly. I hate them!!
Answer:
Sadly, I don't think you can do anything about it until you get braces. You could use the old fashion technique (why I didn't need braces) - - my grandmother used to put me in a headlock and squeeze my front teeth together. After 3 years of that (once a week) my gap was gone and it was FREE!!
the only possible thing is braces or retainers
you should get invisalign. my friend had them and her teeth look much better
I'm really sorry but i dont think u can do anything until u get braces...just try not to think about it so much. If you could go on with crooked teeth for this long, why cant you do it for a little longer?
well i hate to say it but there isn't much else you can do to fix crooked teeth except get braces. you didn't say the reason why you can't get them, or if you plan on getting them in the future so i can't really help you.
Sounds like braces are the best fix. If you are an adult, you might look into getting veneers.. they are porcelain overlays for your teeth. They are permanent.. but they are expensive. If your teeth are healthy, then I'd try braces. ( I don't know why you can't get braces... other than the money, and alot of places will work out a payment plan for you. )
If you're sure you'll get the braces at some point, then find another quality about yourself to focus on, and don't damage your self esteem anymore with negative talk about your teeth. Perhaps your eyes are lovely, or you have great hair. Keep that in the forefront and remind yourself that your teeth are TEMPORARILY out of alignment. I'm sure you've heard this before, it's not what's outside but what's inside that counts, and make yourself happy with your positive qualities.
There's not much you can do on your own. Braces will help. If it's the cost, ask if they offer a payment plan. I had no insurance and paid $100 a month for a few years. Veneers are pricey and I prob won't go that route if they're healthy already. Call around for prices or ask your dentist to recommend one.You can do a close mouth smile or just show your teeth slightly if it makes you uncomfy. Or just smile like reg. I have friends who have crooked teeth. I don't even think it's that bad but they always say it. I think we're our worse critics, lol. I love watching the joy of their faces with a full on laugh. I love it. Ignore the rude ppl who come up to you. Get them when you can or comfy to. Btw, I've had braces before. Good luck!
You need braces. If the cost is your main concern, check this out. You can get braces about 50% off. Some dentists will work out a payment plan with you. Will that help you?Get details here:http://mybenefitsplus.com/wpaul...
You have to go to the dentist. Remember to floss and brush after every meal. If you aren't old enough to have braces the dentist can still help.
me too. Maybe try invisalign.

What should I do about my first wisdom tooth?

I have my first wisdom tooth coming in, I'm 21 years old. It started to hurt eairly yesterday. I looked in the mirror with a flash light and I can see a little bit of white, and its all swollen and raised up. The other side (the right side) of my lower jaw is flat, no sign of a tooth coming in, and my tops are both flat. Should I call the dentist?
Answer:
Absolutely!!!
I had to have 3 removed all at the same time, 1 week before I deployed.
If you don't, they can make your teeth crooked, cause excrutiating pain, and they can get infected.
Since it is just poking out, the dentist will have to cut open your gums, and pull it out. The ones on top are supposed to be the easiest to remove. When the dentist takes your exrays, they can tell if the others are showing and if they need to be removed. You will be in a lot of pain for about 1-2 days, but the meds can make up for it, lol.
Goodluck, and whatever you do, do not put any anbesol or anything like that on it, teh numbing stuff just hardens your gums. You want it to be able to push its way through, so the surgery will be easier. You can try rubbing a wet cloth over the area, I did that, and to both my kids when they were teething.
definitely, it is important to get it checked and see if it is coming in at an angle where it would mess up the rest of your teeth.
Ever seen Cast Away?
If you are in persistent pain, yes you need to see the dentist and possibly have it extracted.
You shouldn't need to call the dentist. It's just a normal part of life. Get some oral jel and use that on the gum. One problem with lower wisdom teeth is that sometimes they grow in at an angle pushing the rest of the teeth out of alignment. That would be my only concern. If it appears your tooth is doing that, then get it removed as soon as possible.
No emergency. I would suggest you make an appointment to go in and have them all checked, even those below the surface. They tend to hurt for a bit, then stop, then hurt. It is usually necessary for them to take them out. Even if you can;'t see them they may be pressing against the root of the tooth next to it.
Well, The first thing a Dentist will tell you is if they can pull them or whether they have to be cut out. Some people don't have to have their wisdom teeth extracted, but most cases we do. Second if you have an infection, all he will do is give you some antibotics. Then reschedule.
My suggestion would be to go to the pharmacist and get some ambesol. Try to bare the discomfort until you can go to the doc and seek medical advice.
It sounds like an abyss and yes, you should call a dentist.
Im 10 and i have all 4 wisdom teeth :)

What should i do about my bad breath?

I brush my teeth and garglr some mouth wash (Scope) but my fresh breath only lasts for 1 or 2 hours. What can i do about that?
Answer:
Bad breath can be prevented by brushing and flossing teeth regularly, do so especially after you eat. Don't forget to brush your tongue also, that is very important. Chew minty gum when you feel that your breath might be stinking. Try to stay away from garlicky, ranchy, or foods with onions. Even soda can give you bad breath! And we all know smoking makes your breath small also.
Good luck %26 hope this helped =)
The bacteria may be building up in your teeth and causing problems, also check what you eat. From http://aches.in/badbreath.html
Hi Juan,
Chew some fresh parsley ( natural way) or breath mint gum. My youngest daughter brought her tooth brush to school all her friends thought she was crazy but she's never had a cavity in her life %26 she's almost 25. Have a good day.
Dont eat food which gives bad breath, like onions garlic and stuff.. Brush properly.. and brush your tongue lightly in the process.. And keep drinking water.. It will get rid of your bad breath..
Mention it to your doctor. Sometimes bad bread is a symptom of other health problems. Please check this websitehttp://www.breathcure.com/halitosis.html...
first of all, consult a dentist. a dentist would know what else is supposed to be done to that kind of case.brushing ain't enough in this case... maybe the dentist will give guidelines such as the kinds of food you are allowed to eat. If you are also a sm0ker, then you have to quit.

What percent of people need their wisdom teeth removed/extracted?

Answer:
You should always have your wisdom teeth taken out. Most of the time your mouth is not large enough to have them and that will cause your other teeth to shift and move. It is also hard to keep them as clean as your other teeth because they are so far back so they can get infected very easy.
My seat of the pants answer is 50% or less.
Eighty percent
Dont know but count me in the stats, just had mind done yesterday!
If you need a statistic, check with an oral surgeon or google. Generally, the rule of thumb is, if they (your wisdom teeth) aren't causing any pain, or shifting of your teeth into an abnormal position, dentists tend to leave them 'in'. However, if they become 'impacted' (growing abnormally under the gum) they can cause problems, infections, and possible damage to other teeth.
there really is no percent. don't let people lie to you. It goes on family genes are personal growth. i know that my father never had his removed and my mother just got hers removed. when they took my exam they only have to remove 1. and its not even that bad... two of them are even growing... they aren't there.

What pain relief medicine should i buy for extracting my wisdom teeth?

I just extracted two of my bottom wisdom teeth and i the doctor didn't give me a prescription for pain relief medicine. Can you guys recommend what i should get?
Answer:
As a dentist myself I always recommend Motrin (Ibuprofen), this is the best Over The Counter pain reliever as it will not only help with pain but will also help with inflammation. I usually recommend that my patients take between 600-800mg for ages over 18. Also try an ice pack, this will help numb the area affected and help with inflammation as well. If the pain becomes severe you may want to consider calling your dentists emergency number for advice or to have him/her call you in some narcotic pain medication. Good luck and feel better soon!
codis,or cocodamol or iburofen.works a treat
This is what I was told in the hospital by nurses. And they tell this to patients who don't have drug plans because it works so well.Equal amount of tylenol and advil, but only up to two of each. The store brand equivalents will work just as well.It worked for me.
call him back and tell him to prescribe something. nothing over the counter is gonna help
cocaine.
Ibuprophen is the best for pain, reduces swelling as well. You can use ice packets(in ziploc bag) and keep on for 15 mins at a time, it helps as well. Good luck.
I would call and ask him to prescribe something. If it wasn't very complicated though, you would probably do fine w/ about 4-600 mg motrin and 2 hours later, 2 tylenol for the first 24-36 hours.
When you have your teeth extracted, the most common script is ibuprofen 800mg. This not only kills the pain, but it helps with swelling too. Try to stray away from aspirin. Also, Eat something when taking this much Ibuprofen.it can damage your liver:)
A BIG bottle of Jack Daniels! I'm not kidding, either! The old school way of helping kids with teething pain, was to put whiskey on it. Rinse with it, drink it, whatever!
acracker--is right. The only thing--don't be eating today and someone said to rinse--do not rinse today. You will get a dry socker and that is bad. I know from experience. But the medication--800 mg. of ibuprophen is what my dentist would order--and the ice packs will help. Good luck
If they won't write you a 'script for anything, 800mg of ibuprofin and ice do the job..
600mg Ibuprofen every 6 hours --that is a safe amount to take each day, but you should not exceed this amount.
Dr. Chris is right, when I had an abscess the only thing that worked was Ibuprofen, so I know it will for an extraction. Hope you feel better soon and use lots of ice packs!!

What on earth is dry socket?

Last week I asked for advice after an extraction I'd had. Several people mentioned that I might have and that they'd had 'dry socket' can anyone tell me what this is? What happens if it isn't treated etc.
Thanks
Answer:
For an extraction site to heal properly, it needs to be plugged up with a blood clot so that it will scab over and heal.If the blood clot falls out of the empty tooth socket after an extraction, bare bone gets exposed to the oral cavity and becomes inflammed. The resulting painful inflammation is called alveolar osteitis, otherwise known as "dry socket."If it isn't treated, it will continue to hurt a great deal and complications like an infected jawbone may result.Hope this helps.
It's when you have an extraction and the bone becomes exposed to air. It's pretty painful but the Dr. should have something to put over it if a dry socket occurs that will make it feel better instantly.
In dentistry, a dry socket is a layman's term for alveolar osteitis. The alveolus is the part of the jawbone that supports the teeth, and osteitis means simply “bone inflammation”. Alveolar osteitis (dry socket) refers to inflammation of the alveolar bone following extraction of the tooth.Alveolar osteitis is a painful phenomenon that most commonly occurs a few days following the removal of mandibular (lower) wisdom teeth. It is commonly believed that it occurs because the blood clot within the healing tooth extraction site is disrupted. More likely, alveolar osteitis is a phenomenon of painful inflammation within the empty tooth socket because of the relatively poor blood supply to this area of the mandible (which explains why dry socket is usually not experienced in other parts of the jaws). Inflamed alveolar bone, unprotected and exposed to the oral environment after tooth extraction, can become packed with food and debris.A dry socket typically presents as a sharp and sudden increase in pain commencing 2–5 days following the extraction of a mandibular molar, most commonly the third molar. This is often extremely unpleasant for the patient; the only symptom of dry socket is pain, which often radiates up and down the head and neck. A dry socket is not an infection, and is not directly associated with swelling because it occurs entirely within bone — it is a phenomenon of inflammation within the bony lining of an empty tooth socket. Because dry socket is not an infection, the use of antibiotics has no effect on its rate of occurrence. There is more. To keep reading visit the website below!Hope this helps!
