What will i need to do for first time dentist visit?

do i need a cleaning and x-ray? anything else? this is a bit embarassing so no rude comments. im 13.
Answer:
Dont worry, I am a dentist and I can tell you that there is nothing to be nervous about. All of my new patients get a full exam and x-rays on their first visit. The dental hygenist will probably clean your teeth and your dentist will come in and talk with you, check your teeth him/herself and check your x-rays to see if you have any cavities. Just sit back and relax and let everyone do the work for you, it will over before you know it! Good luck!
Keep your cool. The Dentist isn't really a scary place to go.
Just brush your teeth and use mouth wash. The dentist will tell you what needs to be done. You parents should have taken you there a long time ago.
Eat a crapload of Oreos and then dont brush your teeth
They usually do a cleaning and x-rays. Usually the hygienist (the dentist's helper) does this part. Then when you're done the dentist will look over the hygienist's notes and discuss any further work you might need.
It would be advisable to let the dentist do a complete examination of your mouth. you will need to clean your teeth and if you have cavities you should fill them as quickly as possible so that they do not get worst. if there is anything else needed the dentist will tell you. Please go as soon as possible.and you should clean at least once per year and floss daily and brush at least in the morning and before going to bed. good luck
If you are a new patient, the dentist will take x rays of your teeth. Then they remove the plaque off your teeth before cleaning them. If anything is wrong, like a cavity, they will let you know so you can make a follow up appointment.
