What is it called when your teeth rot from the inside out?

When I was young my dentist told me what it was but that was years ago and I can't remember. Can ya'll help me? If i remember corectly it was something like Pyria (cant spell)
Answer:
Pyaria is an old fashioned term for gum disease. When your tooth is rooted on the inside it is called a cavity or carries.
